The ELO calc has been adjusted in response to a request from BGA. This means some scores will shrink but the scores will be correct relative to other players. I don't completely understand the mechanics of this if you have questions you should forward them to BGA.

bhauman3, how do you forward to BGA? (I thought this was the appropriate place.) It seems like this discourages play of this game as I would only want to play 'with' someone with a higher ELO (and the reported game shows that apparently they would have to be substantially higher), and therefore, to preserve my ELO ranking, I shouldn't (and won't) play. Again, it would seem the 'tie' rule should apply to competitive games, not cooperative.

Your ELO is not adjusted according to the ELO of the other players that you play with. The way it works when you play a game of tranquility is that you and your teammates are playing as a team against the game and the game has an ELO score that depends on the difficulty of the game.

So your score is adjusted up and down depending on how you fared against the game. This will cause some players scores to go up and others to go down depending on their ELO relative to the ELO of the game difficulty.

You can forward this to BGA by creating a bug report here boardgamearena.com/bugs but don't direct it to this game.

I have a different problem but would like to report it here still
My ELO dropped to 1, although I have 105 games, 59 victories and it was sth like 400
What do I do? The stats are still legit, but the rating is down

This is really not working. I just played a game with jagged rocks, so increased difficulty. My ELO ranking before the game was single digits, and the other players were higher than me, but not even 'Regular' level. And I gained ONE point of ELO.

If I compare this to my early days of Hanabi play on this site, where my ELO rose very quickly to 300, it's clear the algorithm is very different.

Algorithm is similar, but ratings of virtual opponents are much lower than Hanabi.
